I want to set up a long term made to measure shirt supply arrangement with a supplier. I want to be able to measure
customers in the UK, the customer can choose from a range of fabrics and I will pass these details to the supplier
who will manufacture a shirt on an individual made to measure basis and post the shirt to the UK. This business will
be internet based.
I am expecting volumes in the first year to be at least 5000 units. This will be devided between several suppliers.
The shirts I require will be "smart". Standard british mens shirt. The sort you could wear both formally, for business
or for a smart social situation.
To give you and idea of fabrics, I am looking for 100% cotton. I am planning to compete with off the peg retailers in
the UK and not existing tailors. Therfore, I require fabrics that are good value and reasonable quality, mid range and
mid cost. Locally sourced (local to you that is) would be good to keep the cost down. Mass produce so that supply can
be assured. I will want a range of plain colours, stripes and checks, and oxford, herringbone, pinpoint, poplin and
twill.
The important thing here is that you can provide shirts that are made to measure on an individual basis. Each shirt mus
t be made to the exact measurements of each customer, and so each shirt will be different. Can you confirm that
you whether or not you have the facilities to carry this out and how long you have been in the made to measure
tailoring business.
